Feeling lost after his cold replies: what should i do?

Author

we've been texting but it was very casual like he would send reels and i would reply that kinda way...sometimes he would be cold as well..and when I asked him abt it he says hes like that with everyone else..and then there have been moments where he would not text or send anything for a while..yesterday to make the conversation better I asked him how he was and how's things going...he bluntly dismissed the question by saying shush and then I replied saying lmao and he hasn't replied ever since...its be 21 hrs now...idk what to do..its feels horrible...but ive been so scared to let it go.

that silence after you tried to actually ask how he is… yeah that stings. do you feel like he still treats you with the same care he used to, or does it feel like you’re the one keeping the connection alive now?

man, that “shush” reply would’ve hurt me too. when my ex started talking to me like that, i pulled back and stopped trying to carry the conversation.

my breakup we kept texting memes and reels too, like we were pretending nothing really ended. then he’d go cold for hours or days and i’d sit there staring at the chat wondering what i did wrong. that push and pull messed with my head more than the breakup itself.

he's emotionally checked out. Accept, hurt, thrive

Hey, I understand! The situation is a little different, but he sometimes sends me memes. He rarely writes himself. And lately - silence.

It's trivial, but your feeling of anticipation will pass on its own! It helps me to communicate more with friends, go to events, etc. It's also painful, but a month has passed and now it only happens in waves. Deleting the chat with him (only in my own chat), deleting him from contacts, and temporarily moving shared chats to the archive helped. And turning off notifications and sound—it reduces triggers.

@TofuNod466 Sometimes you just have to do something. It also really helps to treat thoughts about your ex as if they were just the news on TV in the background, if you know what I mean. Then those thoughts will become quieter and quieter. Like, right now I still feel love, sometimes it hurts, but I always know that I'll get over it and that in a couple of hours I'll feel better. Just trust the process.
