I tend to hold onto memories

Author

I tend to hold onto memories, like keeping messages or other things as a form of proof. But sometimes, those memories show up on my social media, and it feels strange when old conversations pop up while I’m scrolling, leading me to re-read them. Is it wrong to keep messages, pictures, or anything like that? So, my real question is: if I’m still holding onto these messages, photos, or even phone numbers, how do I truly erase someone from my life?

You can’t, especially when they played a significant role in your life. However, over time, your feelings toward them will evolve. Just try not to keep revisiting those memories.

I got rid of everything, even the jewelry. Keeping those things around only causes pain. Looking at them and reminiscing just brings back the hurt.

You don’t want to entirely erase someone from your life—that’s the lesson I took.

I deleted all the pictures and packed away the few mementos I had, but I still can’t get him out of my mind.

I hold onto my pictures; they’re a part of my memories and my personal history.

I believe we approach it the wrong way when we ask how to forget someone. I still remember my first and second girlfriends, and that was over 11 years ago. The real goal, I think, is to reach a place where you can move forward. In other words, not letting past relationships prevent you from finding happiness.

It's been 2 years, and I'm still longing for them 😭💔.

I spoke with my relatives about it, and they told me that while you may never completely forget, the pain will gradually fade, leaving behind bittersweet memories instead. I’m not there yet, but I hope we both find that place soon.
