It’s been a month since we broke up

It’s been a month since we broke up, and I’ve been struggling ever since. I’m having breakdowns frequently, can’t concentrate on work, and I’ve stopped going to the gym. I’ve picked up smoking again and started eating sugar. She’s constantly on my mind, even though I know there’s no chance of us getting back together. But still, I can’t stop thinking about it. How do I start healing? What steps should I take?

I’ll be the devil’s advocate and say that if you want to contact her for closure, or to lift off the weight in your heart, go ahead. Sometimes, having these lingering what ifs and regrets only prolong the hurt. If there are things you wanna tell her, just say it.

Set small, achievable goals to help you stay focused and motivated. Celebrate your successes, no matter how small.

Join a support group or online community where you can connect with others who are going through similar experiences. Sharing your feelings can be cathartic.

Accept that the relationship is over. This can be painful, but it's a necessary step towards healing. Let go of the past and focus on the present.

Limit your exposure to reminders of her. Avoid social media, places you frequented together, and songs that trigger memories.

Find healthy distractions like hobbies, volunteering, or learning new skills. Keep yourself busy to take your mind off things.

Let go of the hope of getting back together. Holding onto that only makes the healing process longer and more painful. If you're still following her on social media, unfollow her, and delete everything that ties you to the past. When you hit rock bottom, rise up and start getting your life back on track. Therapy was a huge help for me.

Healing is a process that requires time. Be kind to yourself and remember that it's normal to have good days and bad days. 🌱 You'll get through this, one step at a time. 😊
