this year will be the first year l won't have my ex-gf with when its my birthday and my birthday is this month on the 30th and l haven't actually had her wish me a happy birthday in the three years I've been with her and it's gonna feel weird that it's happening and l was looking through our old messages and l gotten sad cus we use to talk a lot before the break up and it did hurt cus l won't forget about it so fast but it's a working process l did start a new job to keep my mind off of her and it's working just a bit tho

the birthday part is mixed with the old messages, like both remind you what you used to expect and what you never got. the new job is probably the one piece that isn’t tied to her.

birthdays felt empty after my breakup too. i kept rereading chats like they’d bring her back. starting something new, like your job, was the only thing that gave me even a small distraction.
