are you hoping wishing him would start talking again, or just want closure? figuring that out might help decide what to do
if you reach out, go with No expectations. just wish him a happy birthday and that’s it.
if you think you can’t do that. it’s better not say anything.
honestly, i usually just skip it. reaching out can stir up feelings you’re not ready for, and it’s okay to protect your heart
omg i get this so much 😭 i used to stalk my ex’s birthday just to see if i should message… ended up feeling worse every time

I'd advise against that. My ex wished me happy birthday, 9 months after we broke up.. I was feeling ok at the time but it got me thinking about him again and set me back. I don't know his motivations but I think it would have been better for me if he had not.. as much as I appreciate the thought at the time, after reflection it was really not helpful and left me confused. Of course I don't know what it's like on the other side but out of consideration to him I'd say to leave it.
