Breakups hit diff cuz we cling to the happy moments even if deep down we knew it wasn’t right. When it ends all you can see are the good vibes and you hold onto them hard. It’s kinda like when ppl say your life flashes before your eye maybe it’s just your brain tryna guide you if there was a way to fix it. Same thing with a breakup it’s like the death of what you had.

Holding on to good vibes from the past is just romanticizing and that's why a lot of people stay in relationships longer than they should.

beautifully put
this is more of a messy thinking out loud vibe
i feel like there’s something to be said about how our brains and bodies just don’t fully get past/present/future as concepts
so the pain and sadness hit hard and trick us into believing this is forever which makes us hold onto the happy memories even tighter like we’ll never feel that way again
and in a way we won’t bc the past is done we might feel it again with someone else but it’s hard to imagine the magic the future (or the universe) has waiting for us
fun fact tho the brain apparently can’t be in a state of fear and gratitude at the same time so i’ve been trying to lean into gratitude more to break the cycle of sadness
and honestly it makes me wonder if that’s why we cling to the good times so hard after a breakup even if they hurt us more

Sometimes all you got are the good vibes from back then

It’s like grieving someone who’s still here.
