I am currently in no contact and it's going well. I am actually dreading the day when she reaches out and asks to be friends. As I will have to politely decline on the basis that I still care about her and I cant be friend zoned. I dont want to ever shut the door forever if there is any possibility of working things out. But I cant be in the friendzone either. I will need to choose my words wisely. I'm dreading when that day comes

i get that. i still care about my ex too. saying no feels mean but sometimes it’s the only way to protect yourself.
