What's your panic button?

Author

I am on day 5 of No Contact and the urge of wanting to reach out comes in VERY strong waves. Sometimes I feel like I am about to lose my mind. I broke no contact 2 times before. What do you do to stop the urge? What's your panic button?

you already know the pull is strongest when it’s quiet. i remember noticing mine always hit late at night. i started expecting it instead of being shocked by it.

i used to call a friend the second i felt it, even if it was just to sit on the line in silence. it made the wave pass quicker.

i used to grab my phone and type the whole message, then delete it. felt like scratching an itch that never went away. some days i just screamed into a pillow instead.

journaling is really a big help for me. and do something like move your body, dance, sing, go for a walk or run.. think about a hobby. leave your phone alone.

Or I wrote long letters to him in my notes app or sent voice notes to myself with the things I wanted to say to him.

I left my phone at home and went for a long walk usually, or brought the phone but removed the sim so I didn't have any data but could still listen to downloaded music or audiobooks. ❤️‍🩹
