you’re beating yourself up for giving more than you got. i saw someone else do that too, it was less about the gift and more about wanting to still matter.

i remember doing the same. i knew he wouldn’t match the effort but i still wanted to show i cared. it hurt when it wasn’t returned.

i did that once. sent him a gift when he forgot mine. felt like begging for scraps. i hated myself after.
