did anyone do no contact for a period of time then spoke again to their ex and was okay? did you become friends?

you’re testing if the old connection can change. some people manage it, most feel old wounds pop up. you’re curious about your limits with them
i did that too, stayed away for a while, then messaged again. we managed short chats without drama, not really friends, more like distant familiar
yeah i went full ghost mode for months, then talked again and it was weird. i wanted friendship but ended up feeling the same old hurt all over, so i just quit
Yes, I broke up with my ex (not the current one) after 6 years because he was struggling with alcohol addiction. I couldn't take it anymore.
He didn't take it well and was super mean. He kept reaching out. One moment he was begging me to come back, the next he was mean. One month after the break up I blocked him.
It took at least 6 months and then he was reaching out to me again (don't really remember how, because I blocked him, but he found a way somehow).
He apologized and told me how the break up opened his eyes and what specific changes he made in his life. I was impressed. His whole attitude was different. He was very calm. Even his voice was different...
We agreed to meet up and talked about it the last few months. We became friends and still talk a few times every month.
thank you for sharing. that’s very sweet
I have had that experience and it went alright, but it's necessary to maintain boundaries
why do you say that? what are your boundaries?
@WildNeo363 being friends with an ex can be messy, because it's easy to go back to romantic intimacy, unless there are defined boundaries
