My ex used to make me watch movies like Lilo & Stitch and I just realized I still miss her. She was really into Marvel and Disney which wasn't my thing at all but I watched them with her anyway. Even after we broke up I tried to get into those genres but honestly I never truly enjoyed them.
Recently a local cinema was showing her favorite movie. I went almost like I was trying to find a piece of her. But sitting there it finally hit me: I wasn't there for the movie. I didn't care about it then and I don't care about it now. What I missed was her.

i watched horror because he loved it and i was scared half the time. later i realized i didn’t miss the movies, i missed how it felt sitting beside him.
i get that. i sat through anime marathons i never liked. now when i see the posters i feel sick. it was never about the shows. it was me bending just to keep her close.
