My ex (female) sent me a birthday message yesterday. Along with it she included a live photo of us kissing and wrote Happy birthday be happy always even without me with a heart emoji ❤️. I replied but she didn’t respond.
We broke up three months ago. The first 40 days were really tough I kept chasing her trying everything I could. She kept sending mixed signals. Sometimes she seemed okay other times she was cold and distant. Eventually I went no contact for 40 days
About 10 days ago we spoke briefly at the office. I offered to drop her home but she declined though she wasn’t completely cold. Later I sent her an email explaining that I was only trying to help and if I was crossing any boundaries or if she was seeing someone new I’d fully respect that.
She replied with a long email accusing me of lying both during and after the relationship. I honestly don’t know what she was referring to. She also said I was being disrespectful by interacting with another girl at work even though I was just being normal after she pushed me away. She said she felt hurt called me disgusting and even brought up my old ex and an Instagram post.
I felt I had to respond and clarify things because her accusations weren’t true. But she never replied again until last night’s birthday message.
I’m confused. What does this mean?

i’d try not to overanalyze the bday message. it sucks but usually those things mean way less than we hope they do. what helped me was focusing on my reaction instead of her words.
my ex used to hit me with random hope you’re good texts after months of silence. it always reopened the wound. i think sometimes he just don’t know the impact of those mixed signals.
It means people are complicated.
