That's a very good message but what I can tell you is not to really get that message into your head or into your heart because you might go back to the relationship again... and it also seems that he has started regretting losing you or he has finally known that you can't be replaced and he lost something that was real and genuine....

when i get into that headspace, i try to remind myself that gratitude is okay but i don’t have to stay stuck in the past version of me who needed them. it softens the ache a bit.
this hit something in me. i remember telling myself the same thing about my ex, like “thanks for the little bit you gave me.” it’s wild how the happiest moments and the deepest hurt can come from the same person
