when you read his message, did it feel comforting or did it reopen that ache in your chest a bit?
At first I was happy, then I was a little shocked, then I got angry, and finally I realized that maybe it was really just the shirt, but he could have gotten rid of it without me asking. It wouldn't have been hard for him to do that.
from my experience, sometimes it really is just about the item. or about easing their own guilt. what helped me was asking myself if replying would actually make me feel better tomorrow, not just calmer for five minutes.
