It wasn't easy, but I finally did it. I moved every email, text, and WhatsApp message onto a USB and cleared them off my phone. Seeing his new profile picture today was a stinging reminder of why I’m doing this—it’s time for closure, even if that closure hurts.
I’m keeping the files on a USB for now as a safety net, especially since he still wants to return my things in the spring and there was a history of verbal abuse. But the important part is that he’s no longer in my pocket. My phone is a "him-free" zone now. I feel lighter, I feel free, and I’m reclaiming my digital space. every time I looked at a message or a photo of him or his profile on Facebook it was just holding me back. it took a few hours to remove him from everywhere but it was worth it. everyday in some small way a remove a small piece of him from my life.

when I saw his new profile photo it hurt because I couldn't be with him. it made me realize that I still had feelings for him and I missed him. The hardest part was realizing that he was moving on with his life without me and that he probably changed it because he was dating again. that was what stung the most.
