my boyfriend of two years (best relationship of my life, yet emotionally abusive & toxic at times) is asking for no contact for two months. checking in at one month. he has disappointed me so much by failing to show up as the partner I deserve. IE my mom’s in the hospital now- so I broke no contact for that. thoughts??

you’re trying to respect what he asked for but real life didn’t pause for it. the hospital part feels like proof that your needs and his boundaries don’t match right now.

he’s actually turned around & been quite supported. called me
last night, left a message… talked me through a panic attack when I called him back.
it’s really great that he’s been supportive. I, of course, am just worried something like this will happen again.
when my dad was sick i called my ex even though we weren’t talking. i just needed someone who knew me. i get why you broke it. it doesn’t erase how much he’s let you down.
i remember when mine said he needed a break but really it just meant i had to carry all the weight. he’d show up when it was easy for him and vanish when shit actually mattered. i felt dumb every time i reached out.

I can see how no contact works… it gives the brain a break & allows you to show yourself your strength without reaching for a partner.
so in knowing that & being here for my mom, I’m strong. there’s nothing this guy can do to waiver that 🤎
For me personally, I don't believe at all in no contact, but here I am in this situation forced by my ex. You got better things to do rn, take care of your mother he is the last thing you should worry about now. I hope she gets better soon :)
