I broke up with my ex because we had very different plans for our future wich didn’t align, but I still loved him and wished he would have fought for me. Two weeks later he asked to get back but I found out he slept with another girl the same day we broke up and that completely broke me. I still decided to forgive him but a couple days later he just told me he needed to work on himself and since then we have been NC for 4 days I miss him very much and although I know I didn’t deserve what he did I can’t seem to let go. I don’t know if I will ever be able to get back with him because I just think that he will get with another girl but I also don’t think I will ever stop loving him.

it’s okay that you miss him and still love him. doesn’t make you weak. what helped me was not trying to stop loving him, just learning to love myself more than i missed him
my ex said the same thing about “working on himself” right after sleeping with someone else. it’s such a mindf**k when you still love them but can’t respect what they did

to answer your question, you love not only him, you love all the nice moments you had with him, you love how he was at the begginning. because breaking up with someone isn't just leaving the person, it's leaving all the time spent with them too. you loving him isn't something bad, it represents the amazing heart that you have, all the love you have to bring to the world. yes he hurt you, but that doesn't automatically erase what your heart feels, belive me that one day you will be disappointed enough to be able to leave and not come back.
you are already mature and smart enough to accept that you didn't deserve that, that even if you get back you won't trust him again after that.
