Was seeing him for a year, he was a single dad and said he'd been hurt in the past and said he wanted to take things slow. I agreed and I thought things were going really well, and I had bonded with his children, and then a couple of weeks ago, he sent me a text message basically saying he couldn't give me the relationship I deserved because of his circumstances, even though his circumstances were the same when we first got together. I'm just broken.

do you think what hurts most is losing him, or losing the future you were quietly building with him and his kids
A mixture of both I guess...he made me feel safe and cared for and chosen, and I grew to love his boys too. I thought we were slowly building towards a future.
