when you start wondering if you could’ve been better, what exactly are you blaming yourself for? is that coming from him, or from that scared part of you that just doesn’t want to lose him?

ugh. that line would’ve shattered me. my ex once told me he “would’ve been fine either way” about us and i swear i felt my stomach drop. i spent weeks thinking if i had been calmer, prettier, less emotional maybe he’d care. it HURT.
