His birthday is in 3 days. I wouldn't say we're on bad terms because when I message him (about our things we need to give back) he'll respond, and I so badly want to wish him a happy birthday and be there at his party. We have mutual friends so I keep seeing stuff about it. I feel heartbroken that I can't go, and I don't know if I should wish him a happy birthday. My birthday is in a month, and I don't know if he'd do the same. Should I just wish him one?

If you wanna wish him do it. It’s not about whether he’d do the same it’s about you being real.
If it’s gonna give you peace just send a quick happy bday text. No harm in being the bigger person

i went through the same thing once 4 years ago.we agreed to be friends since we have a lot of mutual friends. The year of the break up we would still wish each other.Fast forward to today even if we work at the same place and have mutual friends and have parties with the same friends we no longer talk to each other.And last month he got married.

Yeah, I see him tomorrow and he's giving me my stuff back. I think I'll play it safe and wish him an early one then, just so I don't have any expectations if I don't get one for mine. Thank you for ur input !! :)
