your body moved before your brain caught up. i used to do the same, reaching for the phone just to stop halfway. it showed how much i still wanted them around.

i’d dial his number just to hear it ring once. it was like a tiny way of feeling close again even if it hurt right after.

i did that too, called then hung up fast. felt pathetic after, like why am i chasing someone who doesn’t even care.
