It was my birthday Tuesday. I put a story on my socials saying thanks for all the birthday messages, finally starting to feel more human again 🤒 (I had a horrible bug). I got a message the next day from him saying didn't know whether to message but hope you've had a good bday & hope you're doing alright! Not going to lie it took me by surprise & upset me. I'm still in 2 minds whether or not to reply or not!

birthdays hit different after a breakup… i remember getting a “hope you had a good day” text and it messed me up more than i expected. it’s like they show up just enough to shake you again
I really advice you to just ignore him , and just let his congrats be the last message .
You're not obligated to respond to them. If you really really do, I suggest something like "Ty" or reaction to the message with an emoji or something. Happy birthday though đź’–
