Does his silence mean he doesn’t care?

Author

If we broke up and I’ve reached out and he hasn’t responded should I assume he doesn’t value the relationship the way I do. I will say he is an avoidant and he does usually withdraw but never like this. He is refusing to talk to me and I’m trying to stay calm.

spiraling over this exact thing, trying to decode silence like it was some secret message. my ex was avoidant too and every hour without a reply felt like proof i meant nothing to him.

i had to stop tying my worth to whether they responded or not. people can care and still shut down emotionally, but that doesn’t make the pain any easier when you’re the one left waiting.

how long has it been since you reached out? and before the breakup, did he usually come back after withdrawing or is this the first time he’s gone completely silent?

my ex asked for space even though he told me he doesn’t think we are done forever and that he is keen to try again when we are in the same place (ldr) which will be in a few months after he travels. but it’s not something to hold on to. they will show you and reach out if they want to. I’m trying to remind myself that. you are worth a reply.

it takes a long time for DAs to realize. it only takes us moments or days. I try and think about the manipulation or immaturity. how many times did I return to a conversation or situation, how many times did I not really process the hurtful things done and hold myself accountable

Avoidant are good at.. distancing themselves when conflicts arises and pressure overwhelms them.

They're ignoring you like they're ignoring their own feelings. It's better to ignore than confront it.
