What do you miss most about the person you were with? Is it more about their physical presence or their symbolic presence in your life (e.g. your touchstone or your best friend)?
For me it's definitely his presence...he always made me smile and he gave the best cuddles 🙈 I'm a very physical affectionate person and he was too...I miss being in his arms all the time.

i missed the physical affection more than anything at first. my ex used to hold my hand constantly, even doing dumb little errands felt safe because he was THERE beside me.
I will try to paint this picture as clearly as possible for you so you understand you are not alone in your pain.
i work in a large medical facility and my ex and I dated on and off for over 2 years. I have good memories with her in every corner of the facility. So many rooms we snuck into for a quick kiss. So many laughs, smiles, and great moments. Today was the first day I came to work after we broke up. I saw her outline at the end of every corridor. I heard her voice everytime another girl spoke. Every door I opened, I hoped I would see her face on the other side. My brain was hopelessly clinging onto its old dopamine patterns. She has been my source of happiness at Work for the longest time, and now I have to mourn a person I still see everyday.
I went into my car today and cried, for the first time in over a decade.
This weekend was my birthday and the timing couldn't have been any worse. I remembered the effort she would go to , to make my birthday special.
Ive deleted every photo, video, voice memo, and old messages. There comes moments where Im horrified that I will never get to read the first texts I sent to her, not look over all the happy photos and videos of us. Its heart wrenching.
The best way to heal is to rip off the bandaid and face all of the uncomfortable truths. I
thank you for your post. sometimes you really do have to rip the band-aid off. i remember for me, i deleted everything immediately it happened. every single memory. i also got rid of everything he gave me from my line of sight too. it helped a lot not having those physical reminders. what's harder to shake away is the other aspect of not having his corporeal form part of my reality anymore.
@LongDays2026 I think the fact we deleted everything early on is a huge step. It would be so much harder to do later on during the breakup .
honestly for me it was the emotional presence. i missed having that one person i’d immediately tell everything to, the “you won’t believe what just happened” person. the silence after losing that hit me harder than i expected.
he the kind of person who made everyday life feel lighter too? like even boring moments felt good just because they were with him
Long talks with him about our inner worlds
Being Physically There always With Him , Seeing Him Everyday.
I am atul a very sad 😔 please tek to rivaeb me
hi
The way they smiled and hugged me like it was the last hug I was ever going to get.
my partner hugged and kissed me all day the very same day he ended it. he manipulated me into feeling so safe despite knowing what he was about to do. that was cruel of him... and yet on that last day, before heading home we hugged and my body just knew...i remember i didn't want to let him go and i stood there holding him for so long... it's like I already knew. i think about this every day...more often than i care to admit.
@NitroBuzz587 im sorry for your pain. I hope you are focusing on yourself and healing.
