11 months ago my avoidant ex blindsided me with a breakup. later on i realized she had basically been self sabotaging the relationship for a while so she could leave without feeling guilty because she already had another guy lined up from her class. she moved on with him almost immediately while i went full no contact.
instead of jumping into a rebound i threw all the pain into rebuilding myself. over the past 11 months i got back into shape started making better money and even launched my own tech startup. honestly i became a completely different version of myself.
what confused me though was that even after moving on with someone else she still watched every single one of my instagram stories for almost a year straight. every post. every update. every little piece of my life.
recently i finally started dating again and posted my new girlfriend for the first time. and the second i did that my ex disappeared completely. she hasn’t watched a single story since.

before you posted your girlfriend, did your ex ever reach out directly or was it just the constant story views for those 11 months?
i don't think her disappearing says much about your new relationship. i think posting your girlfriend made it impossible for her to keep one foot in the door of your story, and for me that was when the lurking stopped too.
my ex kept watching everything too, even after she was with someone new, and i spent months trying to figure out what it meant. the second she saw i was actually building a life without her, that's when the weird little connection finally disappeared.
Because probably some huge part of her wanted you to be miserable after her leaving you, seeing you happy isn’t what she wants. She broke up with you for a reason …. You might have done something you’re not even aware of. You probably hurt her and she cbf dealing with it ended things with you.
I think she was waiting to see whether you would move on... it's like she wanted some confirmation that you were still alone and the second that image broke, she was gone.
