my ex kept my passport and my only copy of me performing in a musical. I had to get them back this past week. we already were supposed to exchange things like a month ago and I had to reach out to ask for them back. I didn’t count this as breaking no contact but is that normal? I feel crazy cause why would they keep so many important things.

when you finally asked for your passport and the musical copy back, did they hand everything over right away or did they seem reluctant to give it back?
with the passport, it was pretty easy. but with the musical, they made it kind of difficult. they wanted me to drive 20 minutes out of my way early in the morning to get it.
"i need my belongings back" from "i'm trying to reconnect." sometimes an exchange is just an exchange, even if it stirs up a lot of feelings.
i'd have reached out too. my ex had some important stuff of mine after our breakup and getting it back felt like a practical thing, not breaking no contact. a passport especially is a HUGE thing to be holding onto.
