Why did she leave me after two years?

Author

A few hours ago my girlfriend ended our relationship and I feel completely lost. We were together for two years and I loved her more deeply than I've ever loved anyone. I missed her so much that it would physically hurt something I'd never experienced before.
She told me she still loves me but she realized she wasn't excited about building a future together anymore. After two years she couldn't picture us moving in together or creating the life we had once talked about. As painful as it is I know she was being honest.
Right now I'm trying to hold myself together but it feels like my world has fallen apart. My heart is shattered and I'm struggling to accept that the future I imagined with her is gone.

I'm in the same boat. We broke up on good terms but it still hurts so bad. I don't know how he's been taking the breakup but it's been really rough for me. We weren't meant to be together though. I love him more than life but he never couldve made me happy and I never could've made him happy. Maybe that's why this is so hard to accept. This is my first real breakup so I can't really give advice but I wanted to say that I understand how you're feeling and it sucks.

The first few days are going to be rough. Time is going to go very slowly. You may have to force yourself to cry to release some emotion. There is nothing wrong with that, even as men. As the days turn to weeks, you will slowly start to build your routine again and find yourself. Take it easy and remember you've been single before, as hard as it is to accept right now.

when she said she couldn't see a future anymore, had she been feeling that way for a while or did this come as a complete shock to you?

This is the time when your body and mind are in shock, so allow them to do whatever they need, cry, shout, despair, get angry, punch the wall, feel everything even if it's painful. Then, in a day or two, start put your pieces together.
