How i learned to move on after my breakup

It’s been one month since my breakup.

One thing I’ve realized is that healing isn’t about having the same painful day over and over again.

It’s about slowly moving toward the healthier opposite of what you’re feeling.

If you’re struggling too, maybe this helps. I suggest to write down list words that describe exactly what you’ve been feeling since the breakup. Then research the opposite of those words. For example here are mine…

Grief?
→ Acceptance
The loss is real, but it no longer controls your life.

Longing?
→ Contentment
Learning to appreciate today instead of constantly reaching for yesterday.

Regret?
→ Self-forgiveness & Growth
“I can’t change what happened, but I can grow from it.”

Anxiety?
→ Peace & Trust
Trusting yourself, trusting God, and trusting that life isn’t over.

Self-doubt?
→ Quiet Confidence
“I don’t know everything, but I know I can handle what’s ahead.”

Overthinking?
→ Clarity & Action
Stop replaying the past. Take the next right step.

Loneliness?
→ Connection
Invest in friends, family, God, and your community, not only romance.

Idealization?
→ Reality
See people as they truly are, with both strengths and flaws.

Uncertainty?
→ Direction
You don’t need every answer. You just need the next step.

Feeling untethered?
→ Groundedness
Know what your life stands on, even when circumstances change.

Wondering who you are?
→ Identity
Know your values, your purpose, and the kind of person you’re becoming.

Healing isn’t about forgetting someone.

It’s about finding yourself again.

One day at a time.

i was picking ONE thing instead of trying to fix everything at once. on the days i felt lonely, i'd call a friend or go for a walk, even when i didn't feel like it.

i actually started doing something really similar after my breakup. every time my mind pulled me toward him, i tried to take one small step back toward myself instead. it felt slow, but it added up.

which one of those opposites has been the hardest for you to practice? mine would've been acceptance, that one took me the longest.

I think acceptance is why we are all here. But it’s one day at a time. It will get better.
