i have been trying to survive this heartbreak on my own after losing the man i truly believed i would marry one day. he didn't just end the relationship he packed his bags flew off to sweden and norway with his friends and spent the whole trip partying and posting all over social media. i don't think he stopped for even a second to wonder what that might feel like for the person he had just left behind.
this breakup shattered me because i was honest with him from the very beginning. i told him exactly what i wanted a relationship that was leading toward marriage. he never said that was a problem. we met on a dating app and looking back now i feel like the version of himself he presented wasn't real. the moment i started asking about our future and wanted clarity the excuses began. first it was why he couldn't get married now. Then it became why he couldn't get married in five years either. i genuinely believed someone at that stage of life would know what they wanted instead of hiding behind endless reasons.
when he left i begged him to stay. i told him that what we had was too special to throw away that finding someone you truly connect with doesn't happen every day. he still couldn't give me a real reason. he just kept saying he didn't know and that he couldn't be with me. that's the hardest part. our relationship felt beautiful yet somehow that still wasn't enough.
then i saw those two crazies on top of the empire state building and something shifted in me. i had been searching for any sign that love like the kind i believed in still existed. their story spread across the internet and it reminded me that even in 2026 when so many people walk away from someone they claimed to love without looking back there are still people who choose each other completely.
maybe that's all i needed. a reminder that real love doesn't make you question where you stand. the right person won't be scared of your dreams your heart or your "crazy." they'll walk that extra mile with you and they'll be proud to love you out loud.

i've been through that phase where i searched everywhere for proof that real love existed.
i begged my ex to stay too, and the hardest part was accepting that all the love i gave couldn't make someone choose me. watching them move on like nothing happened hurt in a way i still remember.
i'm so sorry you had to watch him travel and post like that right after leaving. when you look back now, do you feel more hurt by losing him, or by realizing he may not have wanted the same future you were building toward?
Choose yourself first ;)
