Why do i feel so attached after just messaging?

Author

i’ve never really been in a relationship or even been that close with girls before. i’d talk to them here and there but nothing more than that.
a new girl joined our class a while ago. i was way too shy to talk to her in person but somehow she ended up messaging me first on instagram. at first we talked about relationships and her ex but after that we started talking every day. we realized we had a lot in common the same hobbies similar interests and we’re both pretty introverted and shy.
over time she started opening up to me about her family her emotions and a lot of personal things. she even told me i was one of the few people she truly trusted.
then we found out we have the exact same birthday april 11 which honestly made me feel even closer to her.
the weird part is that in real life we barely spoke. in class we’d usually just walk past each other like strangers because we were both too shy. but online we could talk for hours sometimes all night. now school is closed so instagram has been the only way we stay in touch.
yesterday she suddenly told me she was logging out of instagram. before leaving she said i was a really good friend.
ever since then i’ve felt kind of empty. i think i got emotionally attached even though almost our entire connection existed through chatting.
i don’t really know what i’m feeling right now. i just needed to get this off my chest. is it normal to get this attached to someone in such a short time when most of your connection was only through messages?

did you feel like you were starting to hope it could become something more with her, or did you mostly feel safe because she was the first person you really connected with like that?

i had a friendship once where we talked every day and i got attached before i even realized how much that person meant to me. the quiet ending of something like that can feel so weird, especially when they became part of your routine

yes that is completely normal you obviously had feelings for this person wherever or not it was love is impossible for me to say but you still cared and worried about her that fact that you're relationship was just digital doesn't matter your feelings are real and your allowed to feel them,
