i’m grieving a relationship that never really happened and i feel stupid and angry at myself for hurting this much.
we were together for three months. i fell in love, but he didn’t. we were never officially a couple yet losing him still feels like a real heartbreak.
it’s been three months since it ended and i thought i’d be over it by now. but i’m not.
i’m back in SA for the summer after living in US, and i thought being home would make me happy. instead i keep imagining how different everything would feel if he were here, meeting my family and sharing these moments with me.
i’m sitting at dinner with my parents after not seeing them for 10 months and instead of enjoying it i’m wishing he was sitting beside me. i feel guilty because my parents are amazing and i hate that my sadness is taking away from the time i have with them.

i wasn't mourning three months, i was mourning the future i pictured with him. those imagined moments can be just as hard to let go of.
i know this kind of heartbreak. i grieved someone i never officially called mine, and i kept telling myself i wasn't "allowed" to hurt that much. my heart didn't care about the label.
are you grieving all the memories you thought the two of you would have had together?
i understand you completely my friend my wife and I just split and I decided to take a couple days and visit my family and the whole time I just felt like a burden to them they still had fun but I felt like a husk of a person just thinking about her, it sucks and don't feel stupid for Loving someone it doesn't matter how long you where together your feelings are real, stay strong
it’s ok to feel bad some days, embrace it so you can have more gratitude on other days. your feelings are valid
