Why do i feel so lost after my breakup?

Author

I feel like I'm in the middle of winter. Everything is covered in snow, out in the quiet countryside. A long, empty, icy road stretches endlessly ahead. There are no people, no cars—only a few distant lights glowing from scattered houses at the edge of a faraway forest.

The freezing wind sweeps across the road. Your face is cold, yet still beautiful. You can feel the loneliness, the silence, the stillness. You are completely alone, and no one can give you the embrace you long for.

Right now, no one can give you what you truly need. Because I can't speak. My mind is unbearably loud, yet my heart echoes with the deafening sound of loneliness.

i used to picture my heartbreak exactly like that, frozen and endless, and i honestly thought i'd never feel warm again. somehow spring still found me, even when i couldn't imagine it.

there someone specific you wished was standing beside you on that empty road, or does the loneliness feel bigger than just one person?
