My ex told me before we broke up that he suffers because of my overthinking. He said he always had to give me reassurance and it got annoying that I asked for it so often. Like he was never the reason behind my overthinking at all.

was he actually consistent with you, or were there moments where his words and actions didn't match and that's what kept your mind spinning
most of the time his words doesn't really proves by his action...
if i actually overthink with everyone, or just with the people who leave me guessing. that question changed a lot for me.
i dated someone who called me "too much" every time i needed reassurance, but he was also hot and cold all the time. after we broke up i realized i wasn't asking for comfort out of nowhere
