Why can't i move on from my breakup?

Author

My ex and I had a super messy breakup. on/off no-contact for about a month, with several fights, etc.

they're desperate for me to be their friend. Kept saying, "Why dont you love me enough to just be my friend" and "why can't you just move on, stop clinging to the dead relationship" (for the record, they broke up with me bcs my anxious attachment made my behaviour manipulative - ive been in therapy to combat that since x)

we're no-contact now until mid-august, but here's the kicker...

We're living together in September. Uni house. I've tried finding replacement tenants, but... no luck.

idk what to do. i can be friendly with them in the house, but im terrified that any progress i make is gonna get instantly reset the moment i see their face. and im scared ill be stuck, struggling to move on, while they do so with ease.

im planning on joining new societies etc to try fill my life up come September- but does anyone have any advice? or even just some comfort?

when they say they want to be friends, do you actually want that too, or does it feel more like you're afraid of losing them completely?

I don't want to be friends. I love them too much, and I'd just be clinging into hope.

had to live with my ex for a few months after we split, and seeing them every day made my heart race at first. it wasn't easy, but i slowly learned that sharing a space didn't have to mean sharing my healing too.
