Should i take him back after all that?

Author

We were in a relationship and he was very controlling and manipulative. I loved him so much that I couldn't really stand up for myself or say anything to him. After 7 months of being together he suddenly ditched me for no reason. I cried a lot and it felt like my pain didn't matter to him at all.
After 6 months he came back and apologized. He said he loved me so much and wanted me back. I still had feelings for him so we got back together. But once we were together again he started trying to control me all over again. This time I stood up for myself and didn't let him control me. We ended up having an argument and broke up again.
Now I'm confused about whether I should give him another chance or just let him go. What would you do in my situation?

honestly the biggest thing that helped me stop going back was writing down every single time he ignored my tears or tried to control me. whenever i felt weak or missed him, i read that list to remind myself why peace feels so much better than constant anxiety.

That’s actually a really good idea. I think writing everything down would help me remember why I left whenever I start missing him. Thank you 🥹💖

what is he actually doing differently this time that makes you feel like a third chance would end any better than the first two?

When we talked last time he apologized for not loving me the way I wanted and said he felt guilty. Sometimes that makes me want to give him another chance but then I remember all the nights I cried alone and he wasn’t there for me🥀

i went through almost the exact same pattern with my ex, and going back the second time was actually harder because the control picked up right where it left off. standing up for yourself this time was huge, even if it led to a breakup.

Do not give him another chance. It’s time you choose yourself and meet a man out there who loves you wholeheartedly without you having to ask for it 🫂It’ll all get better soon for all of us ❤️‍🩹

Please let him go. By your own admission he was controlling and sounds manipulative by breaking up with you when you decide to stand up for yourself. You deserve so much better. I would recommend counselling and working on yourself. With time you will see this situation so much clearer. Please look after yourself.

thank you🩷. I think I needed to hear this because deep down I know going back would probably just put me through the same cycle again.
