Just a week after we broke up my ex soft-launched the person she's currently getting to know on Instagram. The crazy part is that just two days before that post she sent me this message:
dearest
it's hard to want to move on to get over you to do what i want to do when you're still reaching out & i can't stop myself from reaching back. i don't want to keep replying anymore so this might be the last of it.
i'm happy you want to be better even though right now we're not exactly doing the right steps for that. it's okay it'll hurt less through time. getting better is what you were meant to be anyway i'm just a little sad we couldn't be better together. but hey if it means we can but separate i would rather have that.
we're young. love comes & goes. life just works that way. if you ever want to love someone again love with the better version of you. i'll do the same.
for now on my soul & yours i promise to reach everything i want to—to graduate move out live in a better city go to nyc. whether or not another chance will be there in this lifetime & the next. you were everything i wanted & needed. my life wouldn't have been & now will never be the same without you.
achieve your dreams for me. not your parents' not your family's yours. everything you will achieve was always meant for you. i can't imagine another person being more deserving of good things than you.
i'll miss you til i die.

that text message is pure psychological torture. my ex pulled the exact same thing, sent this massive poetic goodbye speech about missing me forever, then posted someone new on her story literally four days later
sending you so much strength because reading that message gave me full body chills. the one thing that helped me stop re-reading those paragraph texts was taking a screenshot, putting it in a hidden album, and deleting the actual chat so i couldn't keep staring at it every night. you don't deserve the mixed signals while she plays happy on instagram.
you alright brother?
how are you holding up right now after seeing that story?
