She’s getting married in October.
I already knew she would get married. I just didn’t know until today that it would be October.
Apparently having a date makes everything feel more real.
About a month after meeting her we were on one of our usual evening walks when I asked “Do you have someone?”
She went quiet for a second.
Yeah.
I kept walking and talking like I hadn’t just felt something inside me break.
Later we talked about marriage. She said it was still far away and there were too many uncertainties.
I held onto those words for much longer than I should have.
Because when you love someone even the smallest uncertainty can become hope.
I don’t remember exactly when I fell for her. There was no single moment. Maybe it happened slowly in all the little things.
Like the afternoon she texted asking if I wanted milk tea. I didn’t see it for an hour because I was busy.
That evening she looked at me and said almost pouting “You actually didn’t reply to me.”
It was such a small thing.
But I remember how it made me feel.
For a moment it felt like she cared a little more than she was supposed to.
and maybe that was enough for me to fall.

holding onto tiny moments too, convincing myself they meant more because i wanted them to
when she said those things about marriage being far away and uncertain, do you think part of you was holding onto that because you already had feelings for her?
finding out the exact wedding date hit me way harder than knowing my ex would eventually marry someone else, because suddenly the thing i feared had a day attached to it.
