Why does breaking up feel so isolating?

Author

why are breakups so lonely?
i broke up with him 3 days ago and somehow everything feels so lonely now. the weird part is i was alone before him too but i never felt this kind of loneliness.
now i don’t even feel like talking to anyone but at the same time i hate being alone. i don’t know what i’m supposed to do with myself right now. 💔

when you say you hate being alone but don’t feel like talking to anyone, do you think you’re missing him specifically, or missing having someone who felt like home?

the first few days after my breakup feeling so strangely empty. i could be surrounded by people and still feel like the one person i wanted beside me was missing, and that kind of loneliness hurt like hell

Feeling lonely and being alone are two completely different things. One is about personal space and how we recharge - the other is about connection. It sounds like you’ve lost someone who ‘once upon a time’ was incredibly close to you. And when you lose connection - it can feel like you’ve lost a huge part of your life.
