He was very rash about it. Hes a people pleaser and an avoidant. He kept shutting me out emotionally. And it all happened earlier today. We ended it. After I gave him space for 5 days. Because we started fighting more frequently over small things. He felt it was best because he couldn't do this anymore and he felt like he made too many mistakes. But he was like my Peter from to all the boys I ever loved. Its fresh. And I was so angry I started calling him names like idiot and stupid and user and selfish prick after he broke up with me over the phone. and then I tried video calling him. I deserved to be seen face to face somehow. He didn't want to talk because he was hurt by what I said. I didn't mean it. When someone goes cold you throw heat in their face. Now I feel so at fault. And he only wants to talk tomorrow because that's how he mentally prepares himself to be cold again. As a woman it sounds pathetic. And ive dated so many before and had break ups cried and moved on. but this... I cant see myself with another. And I was ready to work on this together.

i keep thinking about you saying he was your Peter and that you can't picture anyone else right now. do you think you're blaming yourself for the whole breakup because you regret the names you called him, even though you were already hurting from being shut out?
that was on the dot
i've learned that guilt can get REALLY loud in those first few hours. what helped me was stopping myself from trying to fix everything that same night, because i was hurting too and i couldn't have a clear conversation while i was still burning inside
i remember saying awful things in the heat of a breakup because i felt shut out and desperate to be heard, then sitting there convinced i'd ruined everything. five days of giving him space and then getting broken up with over the phone would hurt like hell.
