Did he really change after a week apart?

Author

my ex visited me after 7 days apart. we spent a whole day together like we were a couple again. no one else knows not a friend or a single soul that knows us and i think i got peace from that.

we stayed as at his place then we went out for dinner then we spent the whole time talking and we kept saying we love each other.

we decided to go full no contact because maybe just maybe we might find each other again soon.

he acknowledged that he wasn't a great partner when we were together and i felt so seen. that must have been the most touching thing he said.

he said that the time apart will make him a great partner if we ever find our way back to each other.

i dont want to get my hopes up but i kept crying because my heart was so full of love the years weve been together and all the things i wanted to fix he acknowledged because of the 7 days apart.

i just eanted to share this because i dont know how else to contain my feelings and emotions.

for a moment i felt so happy that i wanted to pause our time together. i really enjoyed that day. i hope we find our way back to each other.

i think it’s beautiful that he finally acknowledged where he fell short, because i know how much it can mean to hear the words you spent years wishing they’d understand.

when you went back to no contact, did you feel more peaceful because you got that day together, or did it make the hope of getting back together even harder to carry?

i feel more at peace actually it felt like a proper closure and that im just so grateful to have felt a love that started and ended with care. it gave me some sort of validation that we really love each other and that it was a good fight and everything will be okay.

i do have hopes of getting back together as a motivation but im still removing that expectation so that this no contact and loving myself and focusing on myself would really work for me.

i also told him that it would be great if he did the same and his eyes were much calmer and gentler.

i guess it was the most graceful thing ive ever experienced that maybe letting go of someone you really love is necessary.

i can feel how full your heart was that day. i remember having one of those moments with my ex where everything felt right again, and for a few hours i forgot we had ever fallen apart. the hardest part was leaving that feeling behind when the day ended.
