Am i moving backwards after my breakup?

Author

we've been broken up for nearing 2 months, and I felt like I started to move on, stopped caring as much, stopped thinking about him all the time.

I even started having some casual hook ups and stuff.

but one of the guys I have seen twice, feels very situationship-y and I feel...bleh? He kinda just invites me over to bang.

he makes me miss my ex even more because I miss what me and my ex had, I miss not having to explain what I liked, I miss the cuddles we'd have after, the silly chats, the love.

I miss him so much, I really hope he comes back to me one day :(

i thought hooking up would prove i was moving on, then i’d end up missing the little things with my ex even harder, especially the comfort and stupid little conversations after.

i had to stop forcing myself to be okay with casual stuff when it was leaving me feeling emptier. i really missed being known by someone, and that took me a while to admit.

i feel the “bleh” part so much, do you think you actually want this situationship, or are you reaching for closeness because you’re missing what you had with him?

Hi , I'm really sorry to hear that you are going through such a difficult time , I too am nearing the the 2 month mark and I feel like at this point the break up can be harder because it's the realisation that now sets in that life is really changing and that's tough to accept .

I think it can be good to continue to date because life does go on doesn't it , and what is to say he hasn't moved on .

I would say though if seeing the new guy isn't really making you feel good then maybe listen to how you are feeling and take a step back, because sometimes it can make you feel worse I found in my own personal experience , but as humans we all have needs naturally so easier said than done .

Sometimes it can be helpful to really just learn to be by yourself in the romantic sense just to re- connect with yourself and reflect on the break up and figure out where things broke down so you can really re- evaluate what you want and need for the future .

I've been dealing with my break up alone mostly by choice because I'm forced to really do some deep routed self - reflection which I find is giving me hard but true clarity . I have come to a realisation that what my heart and mind wants isn't necessarily what I was getting and not likely to.

I totally relate to what you said about missing your ex as I do mine , the not having to explain your likes , missing the cuddles , chats and love . What your feeling sounds natural and shows that you have real and deep emotions for him . But. sometimes we can be so overwhelmed with emotions that we tend to not use logic in these situations , meaning that while you feel these things there was a reason you broke up, something wasn't working, clicking. While it is good to process emotions it might also be helpful to look at the flipside to ensure that the decisions you make in the future are based on reality not just raw emotion.

I say this from my own personal experience, I am overwhelmed with emotions and disspair but when I take a step back and stop reminiscing of the good times I realise there were more bad times , I also realise that the relationship wasn't working and I was never going to get the love I wanted for a variety off reasons so I was just torturing myself existing in a relationship that had moments of happiness but not long lasting . I came to a realisation I was in love with a version of my ex that didn't really exist , but I was far too insecure , and scared to admit this to myself and let the relationship go but I have eventually taken that step and here I am

I would say maybe you step back from your situation- ship so you can make clear decisions for your future.

you are obviously a strong person because you feel this way about your ex still but you have got through feeling like this for 2 months so shows how strong you are . So keep pushing on and i hope that things get easier for you and whatever ever choice you make in the future you make with both your heart and mind . Good luck on your journey and thanks for sharing , wish you the best :)

I think you are realizing that what you miss is not just having someone around but the emotional connection you had with your ex. Casual connections can sometimes make that difference feel even more obvious. It’s okay to miss him even after feeling like you were moving on. Healing is not always a straight line. Just be patient with yourself and take it one day at a time. 🫂❤️‍🩹
