a gentle reminder that you don’t have to wait until the hurt goes away to start healing. If you break your leg, you don’t wait until you feel better to get a cast. You heal even when it’s hurting. You’re healing when it aches at night and you remember all of the good things your leg has done for you. you’re healing when you cry. you’re healing when it itches and irritates you. you’re healing when it feels impossible to imagine a life where you can walk freely again. You’re healing when you lean on the crutches or your friends to help you get around. You heal while feeling all of it. You heal when you take care of yourself and rest when you need it. And one day you start to notice your cast less. Your cast comes off and you still can struggle to figure out how to walk again. it doesn’t mean you’re failing, it means you’re learning to be yourself again. And it will take time but eventually you’ll run again.

i spent months beating myself up for crying over my ex while trying to move on. when my relationship ended i thought every bad day meant i was back at square one, but realizing the pain is part of the knit setting in gives me so much peace.
packing up my ex's stuff and putting those boxes out of sight was my cast, because keeping his hoodies around just kept re-breaking my heart every time i looked at them. physical distance from their stuff lets you rest enough so the real healing can actually start.
what's one small thing you've leaned on like crutches this week to get through those extra heavy nights?
love this
this is nice to read, thank you for this!
that's an awesome way to put it. my goodness I wish the waves weren't so strong. one minute just fine and the next in excruciating pain. i know it will get better. i was numb until 3 days ago and now the emotional rollercoaster came crashing down. We are supposed to exchange our stuff this Sunday. It is going toset the healing process back but it has to be done. wish me luck and everyone stay strong.
