My boyfriend and I love each other, and he used to support me financially and show his love through giving. However, he has recently been experiencing financial difficulties, which have affected our relationship and led to more frequent arguments.
To be honest, receiving gifts and being financially supported make me feel loved and valued, as giving and receiving are important parts of my love language. At the same time, I understand that financial situations can change, and I don’t want to put unnecessary pressure on him.
I’m now struggling with whether I should continue this relationship or reconsider what I truly need from a partner. I love him, but I also want to feel loved in the way that matters most to me.
How can I balance my emotional needs and expectations with his current financial situation? Should I adjust my expectations and find other ways to feel loved, or could this difference mean that we are not compatible in the long run?

Leave and find another man richer than him hahaha because if that what made feel loved go for it why not.
how about getting a job and showing him that your a good partner by carrying the financial burden as well
no is it financial difficulties you should be a good partner and sit with him it's not that you're with him just for money otherwise if he intended not to pay that's another thing but for both ways you're not only taking a partner for his money
if you truly truly love him, you would support him through hardship. but if you're more infatuated with the money and gifts then you have to communicate it honestly and let him find someone else who will stick with him through ups and downs
I’m sure your post wasn’t intended to come across this way, but from reading it, it honestly seems as though your love for him is heavily tied to what he can financially provide for you. I completely understand the importance of love languages, and I recognise that gift-giving can be a big part of how someone expresses and receives love, especially if that’s what they’ve grown accustomed to in a relationship. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with appreciating gifts or wanting to feel spoiled and appreciated by your partner. However, I think there’s a difference between appreciating someone’s generosity and making their ability to spend money on you a condition of your happiness in the relationship. If he’s currently going through a financial situation, why is your response to start questioning whether you should break up with him?. That’s the part that makes me feel like there may be more to this than just your love language.Relationships aren’t always going to be 50/50 financially, and there will be times when one person is in a better position than the other. Sometimes one partner will be able to do more, give more, and provide more, while at other times, they may need a little more understanding, patience, and support. That’s part of being in a relationship with someone. Life happens, circumstances change, and financial situations can improve or get worse. You cannot expect someone to always be in a position to give you the same things they did when they were doing well financially. If you truly love someone, their financial situation shouldn’t suddenly make you question their value as a partner. Of course, love languages matter, and it’s valid to want to feel loved in a way that resonates with you. But gifts aren’t the only way someone can demonstrate love. I also think it’s important to ask yourself whether you love him for who he is as a person or whether a significant part of your love is tied to how he makes you feel through the things he can afford to buy you. Because there’s a big difference between wanting a partner who makes you feel valued and wanting a partner who can maintain a particular lifestyle for you. The two can overlap, but they aren’t the same thing.Ultimately, I’m not saying you’re wrong for wanting gifts or for having certain expectations in a relationship. Everyone is entitled to their preferences and deal-breakers. However, if someone you claim to love is going through a difficult financial period, I would expect the conversation to be more about how you can navigate that situation together rather than whether the relationship is still worth pursuing because he can no longer provide something you’ve become accustomed to receiving. And if gift-giving is genuinely a non-negotiable for you, then that’s something you need to be honest with yourself and him about. But I do think it’s worth reflecting on whether you’re questioning the relationship because your emotional needs are no longer being met or because your material expectations are no longer being fulfilled. Those are two very different things, and understanding which one it is could tell you a lot about what you truly value in a relationship.
She is so my advice to her just look for and old rich man haha that will solve her problem
i get this because i've been in a relationship where the way someone showed love mattered so much to me, and when that changed, i started questioning everything. i think it's hard to separate missing the gifts from missing how cared for and secure they made me feel
same ☹️hurts so bad
i'd try to separate what you need from what money used to provide
i can understand loving him and still feeling unsure, but when you two argue about money, do you feel hurt because you miss the financial support itself, or because you feel like he's stopped making an effort to show you love in other ways?
Honestly, I think you need to separate wanting to feel loved from expecting financial support. It’s okay to enjoy gifts and appreciate a partner who gives but financial situations can change and that doesn’t necessarily mean his love has changed. If you truly love each other, try to work through this difficult season together. However, if financial support is something you consider essential in a partner, be honest with yourself about that too. Neither of you should feel pressured to be someone you are not.
I am going thru something similar fr he says that he is gonna have a stroke bc he’s basically financially unstable and that’s there really nun I can do to convince him to stay with me otherwise im here if you need anyone you don’t know me but im going thru the same thing 😩
