Why every minute feels unbearable after a breakup

Author

every single minute of every day is anxiety ridden. I can't sleep more than 2 hours at a time without waking up and immediately missing her. we dated almost 3 years and she left me to try it out with another guy. I had my faults. I made her cry too many times, got annoyed with her a lot. she had enough. I did love her with everything I had even though I'm still broken from the past. I always tried to make her smile. sometimes I'm certain she'll be back in the future. We talked about wanting to reconnect down the line and how we both hope we do. but right now all I can seem to think about is how she's trying to be make it work with someone else while I'm here alone facing the grief head on. I just can't believe she decided to leave instead of work things out. our issues we absolutely repairable. just gotta get through the day each day. it's such a daunting chore.

waking up every couple hours after my breakup, reaching for my phone before i even remembered we weren't together anymore. three years leaves a HUGE hole, especially when you still believe you could've fixed things

it's a terrible experience. I can only seem to sleep in 2 hour intervals, waking up with ultra high anxiety. I still really miss her. time will tell if we end up trying again, hopefully as more mature people. thank you for sharing with me.

i know you loved her, and i know you can see your own mistakes too. that regret can eat me alive if i keep replaying every moment i wish i'd handled differently, and waiting for someone to come back makes every day even harder.

it does make it harder. I'm trying to let it go, buy the hope is keeping me alive and going for now. some day I will let go and hope to love again.

you both talked about reconnecting down the line, did it feel like something you genuinely wanted someday, or was it more that neither of you could bear the thought of saying goodbye for good

I think it was both, for both of us. I leaned toward not bearing to say goodbye but I told her this story doesn't feel like it's over. she told me "we'll come back together again" during our last in person reaction. we both said "goodbye for now my love" when I left her house. it's painful indeed.

we are facing the same thing. i made her cry a lot and I regret not treating her better now she went to a new guy. it's been one week I only sleep 3 to 4 hours maximum no matter how tired I am. let's give it 3 months homie we will move on.

yeah we are in same boat. we broke up 2 weeks ago haven't talked for one. it's a fricken disaster. only option we have is to accept it, heal in our own time and try to be better next time. thanks for sharing with me.
