Does it get easier after a breakup?

I still feel lost. We broke up around August 8 and strict no contact since September 24. I feel like life is just happening around me, but I’m not really living it. I don’t know how to let go.

start living again was picking one ridiculously tiny thing to do just for myself each day, like walking to get a coffee or listening to a new album without my phone in my hand. you don't have to figure out how to let go of the whole relationship today, you just have to get through this one afternoon.

are there moments during the day where your mind finally gets a little break from the pain, or does it still feel like a heavy cloud from the second you wake up?

Some days when I’m busy or occupied with something else there is some relief from the constant thoughts. But when things are slow and quiet the heaviness sets in.

sitting on my couch around month two feeling like a ghost watching everyone else just move on and live their lives while i was completely frozen in place. it feels like you're stuck in limbo, but carrying that heavy weight every single day takes so much strength. 🤍

thank you for posting this. me and her broke up 2 weeks ago and talked 1 week ago. it's been horrible. today though, the 2nd part of my day was actually good. I talk to God alot and try and process my emotions that way I think it gets it all out somewhat quicker just my thoughts. please go easy on yourself. you matter and you are important. you will conquer this challenge.

it gets easier after 6+months. that's the approximate time it took a lot of people finally start feeling like themselves again. you'll still remember him but it wont ache as much

Yes, it does get easier. Not overnight but little by little, you start finding yourself again. Some days will be harder than others but I promise you, it won’t always feel this heavy.

trust me it takes time. you might not feel great right now but it gets better. I got broken up and I really loved him, we stopped talking and ever since then ive been focusing on myself, getting better grades and helping others more. It feels good when you care less and just live life. there is so much more to life than relationships.

but to directly answer the question of does it get easier.

it will never fully go away.

but if you learn how to carry it, it will get easier. you will have moments, but they won’t last all day

also what helped me. is understanding that I can’t fix it with words, it’s time to be quiet

I feel you. I’ve been able to improve day by day because I’ve decided to not “wait”. I leave her. umber on do not disturb. I will likely reach back out in 6 months, and that decision has helped me because I was always looking for a short term solution. unfortunately the only thing that helps wounds heal is time. you’ve got this. it sounds stupid, but some days you have to actively try to be happy. smile for yourself. let things happen around you and try to get out of your comfort zone or find a new hobby for now. it might be over, it might not. but no one wants to come back to help us heal. we have to do the work ourselfves and see if the things that made us fall apart are actually different in the future. give yourself some grace. you’ve got this
