I’m at a place finally where I’m still holding onto hope my ex comes back changed as right after we broke up he got into therapy and is working out now yet I’m not holding onto hope and continuing to focus on myself. He got abused in his relationship before he met me, how does that affect a man who hides his feelings? His previous ex would smack him, manipulate him and control him which a girl he’s known since high school confirmed it was true.

You’re handling this so well by focusing on yourself while still holding hope.
It’s wonderful that you’re focusing on yourself while also acknowledging his growth. Past abuse can deeply affect someone especialy if they’ve learned to hide their feelings as a coping mechanism. Therapy is a great step for him but you’re doing the right thing by continuing to focus on your own journey.
His past abuse could have caused him to build emotional walls to protect himself which might take time therapy to break down.
I’m so proud of you for focusing on yourself while navigating these feelings.
It’s great that you’re focusing on yourself while still holding space for hope. Therapy and self-improvement can be transformative but healing from past abuse takes time.
