Why is letting go so hard when you still love them?

Author

it feels like i’m standing at the end of a relationship that neither of us truly wanted to lose. we’re both heartbroken and wishing things could’ve turned out differently but deep down it’s becoming clear that maybe we just weren’t the right match for each other. that realization hurts more than i can explain.
what makes it even heavier is feeling like i spent so many of my younger years here. we grew together traveled together learned so much together. there was real love in it which makes letting go feel even harder.
now i keep wondering about the future. for anyone who’s been through something similar after 35 did you find love again? did you genuinely fall in love again? sometimes i catch myself thinking maybe there’s a reason some people reach this age still childless or alone and honestly that thought gets to me. i know the relationship issues weren’t only one sided but lately i’ve been feeling really down about myself and what my future might look like.

There should be. I mean why there shouldn't be?

you're not alone in feeling this way, a lot of people find themselves in tough spots after long relationships. love can definitely happen again after 35, just give yourself time to heal and focus on what makes you happy first. it’s not too late at all.
