So my ex and I are co workers and we broke up about a month ago . The first 3 weeks we kept things professional.Over the past week I noticed her demeanor change. Always staring at me at work, texting me on her breaks so I can come hang out with her , and just being extra flirty.She also bought a new car and picked me up to go to an ice cream place nearby. I had a feeling that there would be a reason for her dramatic change in attitude. I did some digging and found out from a co worker she went on a date with another guy and the date didn't go well.It all made sense. She tried to date someone else and then tried to come back to me when that backfired.I shut her down and told her we will not be contacting each other outside of work, and that she is not the person for me. I've been through hell the past month and I won't let her undo my progress. I know its hard to close the page on somebody we care deeply for, but sometimes its for the best. The story is not finished, she was just a chapter.Now I have closure and peace of mind at last.

you told her you only wanted a professional relationship from now on, how did she react? did she finally understand you were serious?
She knows im serious this time. Im not attracted to her like I once was. The version I found attractive is long and gone. Today will be the first time I see her at work since we had that chat. I really wish I didn't have to see her multiple times a week but it is what it is.
my ex only seemed interested again when things weren't working out elsewhere, and realizing that hurt, but it also gave me the clarity i needed. good on you for protecting the peace you've fought for.
I think it's human nature to go back to something familiar when things dont work elsewhere. We just have to be strong enough to not allow them back in.
