last march we got together after only knowing each other for a few months but the connection felt so strong. she was everything i had ever wanted. i never knew i could feel that attracted to every little thing about someone.
she was dealing with depression and burnout. she had always been a workaholic and after not getting accepted into the university abroad she wanted it felt like she lost a lot of motivation. i never tried to fix her or change anything i just wanted to be there when she needed someone to listen.
this year in march a year after we got together she broke up with me. she had gone to a study course at that same university for about two and a half months and during that time it felt like she slowly started pulling away. she stopped texting for weeks saying conversations with me felt overwhelming. when we did talk on the phone which only happened a few times she wouldn’t really let me into her life there or show me what she had been working on.
the breakup felt like it came out of nowhere. looking back now i can see there were signs maybe i just didn’t want to accept them. but the truth is i loved being with her. i loved being her girlfriend. i loved kissing her hearing her laugh listening to her voice being around her everything about her.
since the breakup and cutting contact completely i’ve felt like something is missing from me. i dream about her almost every night. i miss her perfume her presence the little things that made her feel like home. it feels like she disappeared and i’m struggling to accept that.
everyone tells me time will make it easier but months have passed and somehow i feel worse. i keep replaying our conversations wondering if i did something wrong thinking about all the what ifs. i can’t sleep properly. every song movie book or random moment reminds me of her. even hearing her name feels impossible to escape.
i’ve tried going out meeting people distracting myself. i’m in therapy too. but i still haven’t felt genuinely happy in a long time. talking about this with anyone feels embarrassing because i don’t want to burden people with my breakup when they have their own problems. sometimes i even feel ridiculous for hurting this much and wonder if something is wrong with me.
i deleted all our photos burned one physical picture blocked her on social media so i wouldn’t check her profile or message her when i’m emotional. i removed every way i could reach her but somehow she still feels like she’s everywhere.
i haven’t seen her since the breakup. maybe i never will. a part of me hopes i run into her someday but another part of me is terrified of that moment. i don’t know what i would say or how i would even react.

this is such a brutal place to be.
had someone become my favorite person so fast, then one day they slowly faded out of my life. i still remembered their perfume months later too, that part HURT
when she started saying talking to you was overwhelming, did she ever tell you what had changed, or did it just feel like the distance kept growing without any real explanation?
I'm going through the same thing.
I don't know what to tell you. It seems like people end up moving on at some point.
I wish for us both that it is true.
