Why it's so hard to stay friends after a breakup

Author

So we met in person and talked it out after the awkward moment that had happened recently. We basically decided to set boundaries because it isn’t right to do intimate things when we’re friends. It’s going to be so difficult, I can tell. He said he’s fine with remaining friends but he likes me back i think. at least that’s what i was told. Due to religion we can’t be together and it really sucks. How do you continue to be friends while having feelings for each other? There’s just no hope for it to develop into something more. I think nothing’s going to happen, but I wish something would happen

i’ve had to learn that feelings don’t disappear just because you set a boundary.

when you say there’s no hope because of religion, do you both feel at peace with that choice or does it feel like you’re both trying to accept something that still hurts?

I honestly don’t know about him but it’s really hard for me to accept the way it is

i’ve been in that place where someone cared about me and i cared about her, but the timing and circumstances just wouldn’t let it happen. staying close while wanting more was the hardest part for me.

I know exactly how you feel. it’s the dilemma between longing for something more and not wanting to ruin the friendship

awhhh, happy to see you moved on, but religion shouldn't be a factor in true love.
